Facilitators are key to successful self sustaining implementation of Lean within an organisation. A core of between 2-3% of your workforce will be trained to a high level of proficiency.
Facilitator training typically consists of 5 days of class room learning supported by two or three hands on practical workshops or Kaizen events.
The training is aimed at providing facilitators with a good level of knowledge and all the tools required to both support and run Lean workshops.
Training covers the cultural aspects of Lean as well as the key aspects of Lean such as elimination of waste and process flow. Problem solving tools such as advanced brainstorming, 5 why’s, cause and effect, FMEA etc are covered as well as the foundation tools such as 5S, SMED, Kanban, Poka Yoke, standard operations, TPM and more.
The training can be spread over a period of time or run as a week long course. Participation in practical workshops is encouraged to cement the learning and build confidence in the facilitators. See Lean implementation for more on workshops and Kaizen events.
All attendees receive a ‘Kaizen facilitator certificate’, a folder with handouts of the presentation material, a CD with editable versions of the presentations and useful documents and a free copy of c4c’s excellent Improvement Handbook.
